The Charter was presented by District Govenor Stewart Brown on 22nd September,1956. Our Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Unley and the first weekly dinner meeting was held May 14th, 1956 at the Ellersley Cafe. Past Govenor, Arthur Hart, District Govenor's Representative Ferg Ballantyne and President Bill Cowley of the Unley CLub, led the activities connected with the formation of our Club and arranged addresses on Rotary subjects, which proved of so much assistance in our early months.The guest speaker at the first dinner meeting was District Govenor's Representative Ferg Ballantyne.  
   
The foyer of the Town Hall was the House of Friendship for the reception of our visitors and the Charter Dinner was held in the newly built R.S.L. Hall. Our Charter President was Bill Craft and the first objective of the Club was to foster fellowship.
