2006 - 2007 District Govenor

District Govenor Nomineee for 2006/7 is John Rowe from the Port Pirie Club.

John was born in Adelaide and undertook primary & secondary education in a variety of private & public schools. In 1966 he was appointed to his first primary teaching position at Strathmont Primary having studied at Wattle Park Teachers College & Adelaide University.
Lynne & John were married in 1968. They both took country teaching appointments in Naracoorte in 1970 where they remained until returning to Adelaide in 1975 for further studies. The following year they taught in the Riverland before moving to Port Pirie.


John first became interested in service work in 1976 when he joined the Berri Apex Cub later transferring to Pt Pirie Apex Club where he played an active part governor john roweserving on club board, President 1981-82 and District Governor District 6 in 1982-83. He was honored with Life Membership in 1985 for his meritorious service to Apex and the community Apex services.

In March 1987, John joined the Rotary Club of Port Pirie and has served in a variety of board portfolios including Treasurer, and Director of International, Youth and Community. John became President in 1989/90. The Port Pirie Rotary Club made John a Paul Harris Fellow in 2003.

In 2004 the RC of DAU District 3790 honored John with a Club Presidential Award during his visit to Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines. During 2004/5 John has been AG for Group 7.

John & Lynne have a daughter, Kristy, son, Shannon and two grandchildren.
John retired after 43 years in the teaching profession and now spends time in the family business, Broughton River Gourmet, which in itself is another chapter.

John has a keen interest in International Projects, GSE, Student Exchange and sister club development to further international understanding in a culture of mutual support, and service to humanitarian needs.
